The Armed Forces of Malta’s only two search and rescue vessels were back in service yesterday after a €1.5 million upgrade in an Italian shipyard. The upgrade was to improve their seaworthiness, maximise their rapid intervention and search and rescue capabilities and increase their all-weather reliability while performing operations faster, the AFM said. The upgrade was undertaken at Cantieri Navali Vittoria in Adria where the boats were built 12 years ago.
