2008 KTM models arrive

The KTM 690 Supermoto is powered by a high-performance LC4 four-stroke engine with rally-tested twin exhausts.

Three KTM model year 2008 bikes have been added to Fapi Motors' showroom motorbike range. Pride of place goes to the KTM 690 Supermoto road bike, dubbed the beginning of a new legend. The other two bikes, both Enduros, are the four-stroke 530 EXC-R and the two-stroke 300 EXC-E.

Powered by the high-performance LC4 four-stroke engine with rally-tested twin exhausts, the KTM 690 Supermoto boasts a sporty six-speed transmission. With a seating position that is more akin to a scooter, this road bike has a front end design that deflects the wind away from the driver's chest.

The 654 cc engine is suspended from the frame. It combines optimal, quiet running with extremely compact dimensions and minimal weight of 152 kg. Peak power of this single-cylinder is 64.6 bhp (47.5 kW) for a top speed of 186 km/h.

Only the best components are used, including a Keihin engine management system with EPT (electric power throttle), a Brembo four-piston, radially bolted calliper on 320-mm brake disc in front and a Brembo single piston, floating calliper on 240-mm brake disc in the rear, and an APTC hydraulically operated anti-hopping clutch.

The KTM 530 EXC-R is 'described' as an assault weapon and workhorse all in one. There is enormous four-stroke power that can, however, be administered gently, especially on difficult trails. Suitable for every kind of off-road adventure, the 530 EXC-R has a completely overhauled chassis that represents a quantum leap in frame, bodywork and ergonomics.

The 510.4 cc engine combines with a six-speed transmission. There is a central, double-cradle type frame with an aluminium subframe, so total weight is just 114 kg. Both the 530 EXC-R and the 300 EXC-E are competition bikes that have been homologated for road use, including accelerator restrictors. There are bigger disc brakes front and rear and larger sprockets for racing.

There is not much to beat the 300 EXC-E for torque - this is a bruiser that combines its power with simple handling. This is the biggest two-stroke EXC from KTM and a reliable endure that combines a kickstarter with a revolutionary electric starter.

The single-cylinder 293.2 cc engine combines with a five-speed transmission. The frame is similar to the 530 EXC-R, with total weight of 103 kg. The aluminium exhaust is larger than in the four-stroke.

Prices start at €9,900 for the 300 EXC-E; €10,775 for the 530 EXC-R and €11,000 for the 690 Supermoto. For more information visit the Fapi Motors showroom in Mdina Road, Attard (tel. 2143 2323) or e-mail info@fapimotors.com .
