Mohammed Kouruma, 36, from the Ivory Coast, pleaded not guilty to the aggravated possession of four different drugs found in his apartment in St Paul's Bay.

Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona heard how the Drug Squad found around 380 grams of cocaine, heroin, cannabis grass and cannabis resin.

Mr Kouruma also pleaded not guilty to committing the crime within a distance of 100 metres from a venue frequented by youths and to breaching the bail conditions over a separate drugs case.

The court heard how Mr Kouruma has a pending drugs case which is awaiting its turn to be heard in a trial by jury.

Inspector Nikolai Sant said the Drug Squad obtained a search warrant after receiving confidential information that the man was still dealing in drugs. Inside his apartment, the police found a concoction of drugs that he described as "a drug shop".

Defence counsel Veronique Dalli said that while her client was denying the charges, he was not making a request for bail for the time being.

He was remanded in custody.
