A delegation of Libyan government officials and MPs had a meeting today with Deputy Prime Minister Louis Grech and Foreign Minister George Vella, the government said.
They discussed the current situation.
No further details were given on the composition of the Libyan delegation.
The ministers underscored the need for a peaceful solution to Libya's problems. Malta, they said, would continue to recognise the parliament directly elected by the people at the last election.
A rival assembly was announced last week after an Islamic-leaning militia seized control of Tripoli and the administration moved to Tobruk.
