The government’s refusal to regularly consult with stakeholders was leading to “avoidable administrative blunders” in the health sector, Opposition health spokesman Claudio Grech said.
Speaking at a meeting with the Medical Association of Malta, Mr Grech said open dialogue with stakeholders could help avoid medical impasses which had been cropping up across the island.
These included problems with doctor training and a “crisis” at the Intensive Therapy Unit in Mater Dei Hospital.
Mr Grech said the PN would be holding regular meetings with stakeholders which would form the basis of its new political strategy on health.
MAM president Gordon Caruana Dingli welcomed the initiative and said the association was always willing to discuss the sector for the good of medical practitioners and patients.
