A man this morning described the circumstances which led to his sister being allegedly raped by two foreigners in Floriana.

Abdiraman Abukar and Liban Mohamud, both 26 stand charged with raping the Italian woman on March 24 last year.

A court had previously heard that DNA and sperm from the two men were found on her clothes and under her fingernails.

The court had banned publication of the victim's name.

Her brother told the court that on the night they were a group of four returning home in a car.

His girlfriend threw up in the car and the driver got very angry and stopped then in Floriana.

He got out of the car along with his girlfriend and his sister.

As he continued to help his girlfriend, who was still throwing up, his sister suddenly ran off after the car, shouting that she had left her iPad there.

A few minutes later he received a phone call from her saying she was 'with four'. The line then went dead.

She sounded normal and he therefore had not phoned her back. He said he would have acted differently had she been crying or had she asked for help. But the phone call only lasted a few seconds, the witness said.

In court evidence in April, a flatmate of the accused had said that on entering the flat, Mr Abukar boasted that “they” had sex with a woman three times.

Mr Abukar added that he held her neck while the rest hit her.

One of the other men did not have sex with the woman and Mr Abukar called him, in a derogatory tone, a homosexual.
