Mothers will be allowed to breastfeed on Air Malta flights as the airline launches a policy to coincide with World Breastfeeding Week.

The international week dedicated to breastfeeding, between Friday and August 7, raises global awareness to support its importance.

Air Malta said in a statement that breastfeeding mothers were encouraged to inform the cabin-crew during their flight for further assistance.

The Malta Midwives Association worked together with Air Malta’s management in the drawing up of the policy.

The policy makes Air Malta one of the few international airlines to support breastfeeding on board their aircraft, it said.
