The government is working on a similar plan for Air Malta as the one already in place for Enemalta, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat told a PL activity this evening in Naxxar.

Without elaborating on these plans, Dr Muscat said that although the government was confident that the current recovery plan for Air Malta would save the company, the administration didn't want to take any decisions and be accused of derailing the plan and bankrupting the company. However, he said that it was clear that the airline needed to expand its markets and the government was working on this aspect.

Speaking on precarious work, Dr Muscat said that the government had been tackling the issue and would soon be blacklisting two companies which had been found abusing their workers.

He said that the government had also struck a deal with a company offering secretarial services at Arms Ltd and said that these were given a longer contract to their works and a better pay.

Replying to criticism that Labour was creating jobs for the people close to him he said that he saw nothing wrong that people who contributed to the PL were given the chance of putting forward the governments policies.

However he criticized PN deputy leader Beppe Fenech Adami and said that Dr Fenech Adami didn't criticize the PL for keeping in their place ex PN stalwarts Anton Attard at PBS and Lou Bondi who had been given a government job at the Foundation for National Celebrations.

"I am criticized all the time from my people about keeping Anton Attard and Lou bondi. But we believe that those who are competent in their job should be given a chance."

Asked by Simone Cini whether he wanted to make the announcement on expected good news, Dr Muscat said that this will be done tomorrow morning.

"This will be an important thing that gives more stability to the Maltese people."

BOV CHAIRMAN PARTICIPATES IN ACTIVITY

Among those who took part in the activity was Bank of Valletta chairman John Cassar White in his capacity as an economist.

He spoke on the economy and called for incentives to promote worker training.

He also praised the government for the way it was tackling Enemalta's problems and putting money in the people's pockets.
