Apartments for mental health clients

About 160 professionals were providing mental health community services across the five day centres and six mental health clinics around the island, the Parliamentary Secretary for Community Care, Mario Galea said.

Mr Galea was speaking during the opening of an apartment for mental health clients in Marsaxlokk on Tuesday.

The aim of the apartments is to integrate clients in society and to open a new chapter in their life. There are three such flats in different localities.

Community treatment for mental health patients was raised the day before by Labour health spokesman Marie Louise Coleiro Preca who said children with mental health problems were being treated at Mount Carmel Hospital when they ought to be in the community.
