When Malta and Cyprus meet
Lisa Gwen Baldacchino

In 2005, a group of 12 ceramists from Malta and Cyprus decided to put up a small exhibition at Palazzo Vilhena, Mdina.

Then they could not quite envisage that this initiative would grow into a series of shows held alternatively in Malta and Cyprus.

The latest edition is being held at St James Cavalier in Valletta. It is being organised on the initiative of Charles and Mario Sammut, assisted by Antoine Paul Camilleri and Sina Farrugia Micallef, working from their base at The Sculptor’s Lodge in Buskett.

Vassos Demietriou and Efthymious Symeou head the Cypriot representatives, all members of The Cyprus Ceramists and Potters Association.

The exhibition includes over 80 works by 27 participating ceramists. The Maltese ceramists include Charles Sammut, Antoine Paul Camilleri, Mario Sammut, Paul Haber, George Muscat, Valerio Schembri, Neville Ferry, Sina Farrugia-Micallef, Sue Mifsud, Kenneth Grima, Julie Apap, Ray Abela and Joseph Agius.

The exhibition runs until Sunday.
