Kenny Ortega, the director of Michael Jackson's "This Is It" concert documentary said the pop star was enthusiastic about performing a run of 50 shows in London. Ortega also said that Jackson did not show any signs of a dependency on drugs. "This Is It," a film based on the rehearsal for the shows, hits theaters Wednesday.

A Swiss court rejected a bid by film director Roman Polanski for release on bail as the risk was too high he would flee pending extradition to the United States for having unlawful sex with a minor in 1977. U.S. authorities have until the end of November to make a firm extradition request.

A Bahamian Supreme Court judge ordered a retrial in the case of two people accused of trying to extort 25 million dollars (USD) from John Travolta over the death his son last January. A judge ordered a mistrial in the case after a local politician prematurely announced that the two accused had been cleared. A new trial date has not been set.

It was a celebration of "Girl Power" in Beverly Hills as the leading ladies of film were honored at the 16th Annual Women in Hollywood tribute. Julie Andrews and Katie Holmes were among those recognized.

A supposed pile of Elvis Presley's hair sold for for more than 18,000 dollars. Auctioned off in Chicago, the hair is believed to have been buzzed from Presley when he joined the U.S. Army in 1958.
