Heroes in the Sky

During World War II, the tiny island of Malta was the most bombed place on earth. Young pilots were sent to defend it, and despite the overwhelming odds, they achieved incredible success. They hailed from every corner of the world, Britain, Canada, the United States, Australia and New Zealand. They were unique, a breed of their own who made a fine art out of fighting in the sky. With no strict rules, Malta was the right place for them to experiment and develop their raw talents.

Heroes in the Sky, a local production by Halo Pictures Ltd, will hit the cinemas on 7th November 2007. This documentary film is written, produced and directed by Engelbert Grech.

"These are the pilots who saved the Mediterranean. It was always my dream to work on a project set in Malta during World War II. HITS focuses on the bravery of the pilots based here, and the Maltese people who never gave up. Featuring exclusive interviews with former RAF pilots and historians, accurate re-enactments, archive footage and CGI, this production tells a great story about the hardships and triumphs of an outstanding group of pilots. My team and I managed to put together a unique production that will appeal to both the young and the older generations," said Engelbert Grech.
