A few months ago I was told off and fined for not seeking an official permit to occupy the space in front of my own drive-in with a mini high-up crane.

The sorry excuse for a crane was only there for an hour, did not obstruct any traffic, nor was it in anyone's way, but yes, I knew I was supposed to get a permit and went ahead without it.

The fine was reasonable and I was guilty as charged.

Then this week, just a few meters away from where my incident happened, but in what is probably Malta's speediest road, a wall went missing, a pseudo ramp appeared, and a mini road was created, traffic was stopped, without a warden in sight, and the mini-entrance is still there for the convenience of those who created it.

My point (and yes I do have one) is better made with the pictures.
