Before I started writing this blog, I kept thinking to myself that I wasn't older, I was just, hopefully, wiser. I kept reminding myself that I was once also a teenager and that even I had once wanted to look older beyond my years.
At this point my sister walked in wearing MY dress. Now she's 15 years old and I'm more than ten years older! We do wear the same size cause I'm quite small, but some dresses are just not made for 15 year olds. "Can you do my make up please?" she asked her big blue eyes sparkling.
"Where are you going?' I enquired. "I'm off to a house party" she replied coolly. She said that this guy who she likes is going to be there and so she has to look her best!
When I was 15 ...1) I never went to any house parties with boys 2) I would never dream of wearing a dress like THAT, not only cause I didn't have the figure for it but also cause I was doomed being the eldest meant I didn't have an older sister to borrow from and probably that meant wearing the same stuff all the time! 3) Make up is meant to enhance your features. I didn't want any of my facial features, case in point, my unibrow to be enhanced so I never wore any.
I must admit I enjoy doing Jacqueline up. She's turned out to be such a beauty and her figure is incredible. I feel like I'm playing with a real life doll, but while I'm putting on her mascara I do worry about how she comes across to the outside world. When her friends come over I can't help but think "Are these girls really just 15 years old?"
For one, they're all taller, ok so that's not really hard to beat me at, height, but they've also got larger breasts and THAT's where I think that the younger generation have been rather blessed. They're also way prettier than I remember anyone at my school being at that age.
Every generation is becoming more and more good-looking! (THAT might explain why I choose to date younger men) What I don't really understand though and what alarms me is the way the younger generation portray themselves to our society. Some of my ‘friends' on facebook are some of Jacqueline's peers. The poses, the comments, the places they already frequent, it's all beyond my belief!
Now, you all know I'm no prude, I am no saint and many of you might be pointing their fingers at someone like me, and thinking that being in the public eye can influence the younger generation.
However, more than being infatuated by pop stars or musicians, my sister's generation are more ‘inspired' by teen magazines, movies and soap/reality stars. I am just shocked to think that some of these youngsters are convinced that they can replicate "Gossip Girl", "The O.C." or anything they watch on TV or read about in magazines at their age.
Just last week I asked this 14 year old girl if she'd watched the new "Harry Potter" film. She smirked and told me "How old do you think I am 10?" "O-K" I thought to myself someone thinks they're all grown up!
