Salt go back to school

On Tuesday, Salt arrived at Albury with an hour's delay and a number of our hosts eagerly awaiting us at the train station. They promptly ferried us over to the town on the other side of the river, Wodonga, which is where the schools we would be visiting the day after were found. T In the meantime, four of us were still heading to this first stop of the week, driving a 'ut', which in Australian slang stands for a utility pick-up van, carrying our instruments and luggage.

The following day we were woken up at 7.15am by our hosts. It was close to impossible for us to get up following the long travelling time the day before and... the wrong settings on my alarm clock!

In Wodonga we visited *Frayne College* and later in the day *Catholic College*. The sound at Frayne, a new and small school, was raw but the audience response surely made up for any shortcomings in the sound. The time at Catholic College, which is a larger school of 900 students, was also very exciting. A good number of students turned up for our 40 minute gig during the break. The students were energetic and very responsive to our music, making for a great gig.

After that we were spontaneously asked by some teachers to add some "Salt" to their lesson and spend some time with students in their class, which we did to our great delight. Sadly we soon had to rush off - our greatest enemy in Australia is time, of which never seems to be enough.

Salt soon set of to Myrtleford for another packed day of gigs in schools. But before that we had a much longed for grrrrreat plate of spaghetti at our hosts and a warm bed where wefinally got some rest.

In the next blogs you will probably hear more about our gigs in schools since we'll be doing more of those until Thursday. We will also try to upload some great pics of us 'on the road' on saltband.net and our facebook site.

Salt is a Maltese youth band which is in Australia on a tour coinciding with World Youth Day.
