Wet nurse feeds China quake babies
A policewoman in China's earthquake-hit Sichuan province is breastfeeding orphans and babies whose mothers are dead, missing, or too traumatised to feed them.
It all started after Jiang Xiaojuan, a local policewoman in the earthquake-hit province of Sichuan, saved a 3-month-old baby from under the rubble shortly after the quake struck on May 12. After finding out that the baby's mother was missing, Jiang - who has a six-month-old child, decided to breastfeed the infant. The young police officer now spends her days breast-feeding other babies at local shelters, most of whose mothers are dead, missing or too tired to feed their children. More than 80,000 people are now confirmed dead or missing after China's worst earthquake in decades. The disaster has orphaned thousands of children.
