Howard loses parliamentary seat
Australia's former Prime Minister John Howard officially loses electoral seat.
The high profile former television and news magazine journalist turned Labor party candidate Maxine McKew claimed the seat as her own on Saturday (December 01). Howard becomes the second prime minister in Australia's history to lose his own seat. Howard's conservative Liberal coalition government conceded power to Kevin Rudd's centre-left Labor party in last week's election.
