An Air Malta flight from London declared a medical emergency over France and diverted to Geneva.

Aviation websites reported the emergency close to the Swiss border, just under half-way through the flight from Heathrow to Malta.

A spokesman for Air Malta said a passenger aboard the plane needed medical attention and that the plane would land shortly in Geneva.

The passenger was given emergency treatment by a doctor who happened to be on board.

No further details were available.
