Allow me to refer to the letter ‘Political investigations’ by Eddy Privitera (March 28) which said: “Many readers must surely remember one of the greatest criminal investigations of all time involving political parties, politicians and business people – Mani pulite or Tangentopoli – in the 1990s in nearby Italy. What has been exposed here in Malta these last few weeks is almost a carbon copy of what had been happening in Italy...”

Although everyone knows who the ultimate beneficial owner of Tillgate Inc. is (file number 808516; Panama date of registration July 15, 2013; owner Keith Schembri) and although everyone knows who the ultimate beneficial owner of Hearnville Inc. is (file number 80874 [5]; Panama date of registration September 7, 2013; owner Konrad Mizzi), no one knows who the ultimate beneficial owner of Egrant Inc. is (Panama registration date July 4, 2013; administrators Yakeline Perez and Ricardo Samaniego).

Since Privitera seems to be an expert in matters concerning the Labour Party and since he seems to have a soft spot for political/criminal investigations, he may wish to not only conduct an inquiry to establish who the ultimate beneficial owner of Egrant Inc. (Panama) is but even widen the terms of reference of any such investigation.

He could then ascertain whether Egrant Inc. offshore company number 2 (called Egrant Capital – never mentioned in the Panama Papers by Bastian Obermayer and Frederick Obermaier) has recently been registered in Switzerland with the aim of facilitating the transfers of undeclared cash/funds from Panama (by now considered to be compromised as an offshore tax haven) to Switzerland.
