Last month, a new rock opera in Maltese produced on the 75th anniversary of the death of St Maximillian Kolbe in the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland during World War II was staged in Gozo.

Inspired by this hero’s staunch faith and his devotion to the Blessed Virgin, the story of Kolbe is entwined with the values of solidarity, inclusion, peace and freedom, values which are still pertinent today.

Kolbe is now coming to Malta. The rock opera is a two-hour non-stop musical production of song and dance performed by a 100-strong cast from Gozo, including Jamie Camilleri, Mario Caruana, Ruth Portelli, Lara Mompalao, Sarah Bonnici, Angelica Portelli and Fabian Galea.

The show’s music includes different styles of music ranging from ballads to rock, folk and blues for both singers and choirs.

The performance is being held on Saturday, April 22 at the Catholic Institute Hall in Floriana at 7.30pm. To book, call 2123 8429, between 4.30-7.30pm. Entrance is free but donations would be appreciated.
