Last Wednesday (April 12), I was at the St Julian’s bus stop (opposite Wembley Garage) at 7.05pm on my way to Valletta to attend a performance at St James Cavalier that was due to start at 8pm.

Six buses arrived, three of them stopping at the Sliema Ferries and another three headed to other destinations. Finally, to my relief, bus no. 14 appeared, at 7.40pm.

As we reached Spinola, the bus was full to capacity. Luckily (for me), the bus hardly ever stopped, with stranded passengers waving it to stop, all the way to Msida.

As the road was not busy we arrived at 8.05pm. With buses destined to the Sliema Ferries being only half full, would it not make more sense that such a busy route be extended to Valletta?

For once I appreciated that the play started later than scheduled.
