It is with pleasure that I read the item (April 8) publishing details of Minister Helena Dalli’s expenses while visiting Switzerland. Living in Switzerland, I can attest to the fact that the reported €80 a head for dinner is in fact a good deal in this Alpine nation.

To give Maltese people some perspective, a pizza in our country costs a handsome €30, a soda at a gas station around €5 and dinner for two at a restaurant in Geneva about €150, including wine.

I’d say the minister has indeed done a brilliant job of bargain shopping in the most expensive country in the world and I state this completely objectively as I regularly suffer these prices too.
