Milan head coach Vincenzo Montella thinks his side did “something almost unbelievable” as they came from 2-0 down to snatch a point at arch-rivals Inter.
Milan dominated the early exchanges with Gerard Deulofeu and Suso terrorising the Inter defence before Antonio Candreva and Mauro Icardi both struck to put Stefano Pioli’s men in front at half-time.
Alessio Romagnoli pulled a goal back when he prodded home Suso’s cross in the 83rd minute before Cristian Zapata volleyed in with the last kick of the match to earn a dramatic point at the Giuseppe Meazza.
Montella said: “It’s really exciting. We managed to come back from two goals down and we did it in the second half.
“We did something almost unbelievable. It was really a great emotion.
“I think it was a great game to watch for our fans. I’m happy with this result.
“We played really well in the first 30 minutes, although we should have been more patient and clinical. We conceded an easy goal.
“Being 2-0 down at the break was almost surreal. I’m happy with the final result. Games are all different from one another. Today I had the chance to field five players up front and I did so.”
Goal-hero Zapata was overjoyed to score the equalising goal which helped Rossoneri stay above Inter in the Serie A table and sit just two points off the Europa League places.
He said: “I’m so happy, scoring a last-minute goal in the derby was something fantastic. I just want to enjoy this beautiful moment”
