Sunflower Farm Company Ltd, popularly known as Sunflower Pony Club, has recently been awarded EU funds to deliver an educational programme within an equestrian centre to promote health-enhancing physical activity among refugee/migrant children and to boost integration through sport.

This project, using ponies and horses as a medium, creates awareness of the importance of healthy eating and exercising. It uses the keeping and care of ponies to turn learners’ attention to their own lifestyle with regard to diet, exercise and taking care of oneself.

It is available free of charge to any refugee/migrant children. Transport is also included.

The company is currently working with the State’s primary schools in collaboration with the Migrant Learners’ Unit Malta (MEDE).

As from October the educational programme will also be available to local schools wishing to take students on outings. Prices offered depend on the number of students. Transport costs are not included.

For more information, call Paul Borg on 7920 0977 or Sarah Albanozzo on 9911 7991.

This project is co-funded by the EU and approved by the Ministry of Education.
