Frank Farrugia has been elected president of the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry, taking over from Anton Borg.

Mr Farrugia was deputy president of the Malta Chamber since 2015 and held the post of vice president for the preceding two years.

Addressing the council for the first time, Mr Farrugia outlined his priorities for his presidency for the coming two year-term. He said that he was honoured to take the baton from a tireless outgoing president who enjoyed the respect of the business community as well as political leaders.

He said his presidency would aim to maintain the Chamber’s leading role in the representation of business and face the new challenges of the times.

Mr Farrugia joined the Malta Chamber of Commerce in 1976 and is well placed to lead the Malta Chamber having served in virtually all positions and sitting on various committees.

He is also a founding member of the Libyan-Maltese Chamber of Commerce and has served as its president and the vice president of the Joint Council of the Libyan-Maltese Chamber.

He is currently serving as chairman of the SME Committee within the Chamber and is the Chamber representative on the board of Conservatorio Vincenzo Bugeja and director on the board of Employment and Industrial Relations, JobsPlus, Trade Malta and Malta Enterprise and member of MCESD.
