The man believed to have been responsible for partially blinding a 28-year-old barman last Saturday has been caught.

The suspect, a 23-year-old Serbian national, was arrested last night along with two other men following a police raid in a Qawra apartment.

The men fled when they realised the police were in pursuit but they were followed and arrested at another apartment, the police told Times of Malta. They are being held for questioning. 

The Serbian national is wanted for a savage unprovoked attack on Ryan Magro in Buġibba. It is not yet known whether the other two were also in the bar.

Mr Magro is being treated in hospital for serious eye injuries after the aggressor smashed a beer pint glass in his face at Munchies Bar.

Friends and family members who witnessed the incident told Times of Malta that the incident was sparked off after one of the aggressors was "politely" asked to leave the premises after he looked inebriated and started picking on patrons.Mr Magro 

Mr Magro, a father of a one-year-old, was rushed to hospital where tests showed he had "almost certainly" lost sight from his left eye. He is well known in the music scene, and plays guitar for Malta's Eurovision singer Claudia Fanniello as well as Ozzy Lino.

Reports that the suspect had been caught early yesterday morning were dismissed by the police later.
