CC Ortigia picked four points out of a possible nine when they figured in three Serie A1 matches during March.

Steve Camilleri, one of the leading scorers for the Sicilian side, added four more goals to reach the 29-mark.

He scored twice in each of the matches against Acquachiara, which Ortigia won 13-9 at home, and against hosts Trieste when the teams shared 16 goals.

However, last Saturday, Camilleri’s team lost 11-5 at home to the third-placed Sport Management oufit in a match which had the Maltese player drawing blanks.

Ortigia are currently lying tenth in the standings ahead of Bogliasco, Lazio, Torino and SC Quinto.

The leaders are Pro Recco followed by Brescia while the former Sliema player Antonio Petkovi heads the scorers’ list with 53 goals.

With six matches to go until each team completes its regular round-robin programme early in May, the team from Syracuse are aiming to avoid the relegation play-offs.
