Those who may still have had a shred of doubt on whether the Nationalist Party is gripped by political desperation and had the unique opportunity of following Beppe Fenech Adami’s speech - nay, harangue is more fitting- in Parliament during the debate on the new electoral boundaries would definitely have dispelled such doubts.
No one can mirror this political desperation gripping the PN better than Fenech Adami, not even Simon Busuttil.
It was a long tirade of insults, allegations of corruption and sleaze, uttered at very high decibels, while his body language, mostly his facial expressions, said it all.
One could easily conclude why Fenech Adami resorted to such a harangue. He4 is directly connected to Capital One and Baltimore Fiduciary Services Ltd, where he served as a director and which are being investigated by the Malta police, Europol and the Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit, in view of allegations of money laundering.
There is also his still unexplained dramatic increase in his bank account, up from €400,000 to €1 million during the time that the account of Capital One rose from a few thousand euros to about €200 million, about which he has been regularly challenged by both the Prime Minister and Cabinet ministers.
No wonder serious and even prominent PN people are seriously considering and deciding to abandon the party under the leadership of Busuttil and Fenech Adami.
