Lija joined Naxxar at the top of the table after demolishing Pietà Hotspurs in a game where Joseph Galea’s side dominated from start to finish as the scoreline clearly indicates.
Erjon Beu scored the opener, his 20th of the season, when beating young keeper Jacob Chircop St John with a powerful dipper.
Pietà tried to hit back but their efforts were undone on the half hour when Chircop St John failed to hold an Everton Da Silva Santos shot and the ball rolled agonisingly into the net.
Lija went close on a couple of occasions before making it 3-0 just before half-time thanks to Antoine Borg whose shot had the better of the Pietà keeper.
Abubaker Bello Osagie headed home from a Beu cross soon after the restart and with the Hotspurs offering weak resistance substitute Aiden Galea curled his shot past the wall from a free-kick to round up the score to 5-0.
