The following are the top stories in some of Malta's Sunday newspapers.

The Sunday Times of Malta reveals an internal Air Malta report which warns that the single biggest threat to the airline comes from the unions and their “power game.”  

The newspaper also reports that the National Audit Office is to step up follow-ups of its investigations to counter a 'lax' attitude in the public service. 

MaltaToday reports that ministers have been told to prepare for a November election. It says ministers have been told to reduce working hours at their ministries and start campaigning in preparation for a November election, which will follow an early Budget.

The Malta Independent says more cases have surfaced of people having more than one ID card.

It-Torċa leads with a visit to Malta by a former Polish prime minister who praised Malta for converting the power station to use gas. It also says the government's budget surplus has caused division of opinion in the PN. 

il-Mument highlights how the EU is urging the prime minister to order his chief of staff to give evidence before the Pana committee on the Panama Papers scandal.

The newspaper also says the Labour Party has switched on its electoral machne and is dishing out jobs in the public service. 

Illum says there is a battle among Labour candidates for the 8,000 votes which Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca used to get on the Qormi district. Those trying to get them in the forthcoming general election will include Robert Abela, the son of former President George Abela, and Rosianne Cutajar, mayor of Qormi.
