BIRKIRKARA 3

MOSTA 0

Birkirkara kept their hopes of European football alive by beating Mosta 3-0 and leapfrogging Floriana into fourth position, although the latter have a game in hand.

Meanwhile, this defeat has almost condemned Mosta to either a play-off spot or automatic relegation.

The Stripes forged ahead on seven minutes, when Mosta’s Tyrone Farrugia headed James Brincat’s free-kick into his own net.

This goal set the match on a plain sailing course for Nikola Jaros’ side and they doubled the score on 34 minutes, when Miguel Angel Alba concluded a solo action with a low-drive.

They made sure of the win a quarter from time through Srdjan Dimitrov who lobbed the ball neatly beyond Yenz Cini.
