While reading a 300-page book about Pope Francis’s ‘revolution’ by Argentinian author Elizabeta Piquè, I came across the name of Mgr Alfred Xuereb, the first private secretary to Pope Francis, about eight times.

He is an unknown personality from Victoria, highly regarded in Vatican circles, in Vatican diplomacy and, more recently, in the financial administration of the Vatican bank.

He is fluent in many languages and for some time worked in Canada. He studied theology at the Teresianum, in Rome.

Look up “Mgr Alfred Xuereb, private secretary to Pope Francis” on the internet. It tells you a lot about this man’s high qualities who had the trust of Pope Benedict XVI, when he served as his second private secretary, and now of Pope Francis himself.

He must have a lot of interesting things to tell us about the rich human qualities within the Catholic Church and about the present wonderful and saintly Pope.
