Flowers were laid at the foot of the Freedom Monument in Vittoriosa by President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and Opposition leader Simon Busuttil this morning to mark the 38th anniversary of the closure of the British military base.

The President inspected an AFM guard of honour and then laid flowers at the foot of the Freedom Day monument in Vittoriosa.

Freedom Day events continue with the traditional regatta races in Grand Harbour this afternoon.
