I would like to make an appeal to all politicians, now that the election is inching closer.

Put Malta and the Maltese first. Do the right thing, embrace the true values that make us all deeply human. Do not let those whose sole interest is turning Malta into one big construction site for greed’s sake, to continue to ravage the island, eating our island clean like voracious piranhas just to ensure your election and financial support.

We are already being choked to death as it is. Stop this mad frenzy for development. You have the power and, yes, the duty to do it. Don’t let yourself be bought.

Stand up for what you truly believe, for what is right, not what is expedient to get votes.

Defend democracy, not exploit it in every way and hinder it, corrupt it and then pay lip service to it. We all become the poorer for it.

Populist tactics and bad practices are not only shortsighted but also lead to chaos, bitterness and division. Be true to yourselves and the Maltese you represent.

Defend the family and life not subtly undermine it by passivity or stealth. Go against the current of the culture of death, in all its forms, which is present in other countries and which you have, so far, generally, unfortunately, proved too weak to oppose decisively, as it encroaches on us.Do the right thing, it’s never too late.

If you want to be true politicians, embrace true values, not greed for power and money. You can be a force for good and truth. Do not betray yourselves and us when you are in Parliament. The good that you do will remain after you.

Future Maltese generations will remember you for this and thank you for it one day.
