Mgr Charles Vella, writes:

It is never easy to talk or write about a person so dear to her family and to all those who came to know her. Joyce was a dear person to her husband Richie, her three sons and to so many relatives and friends.

For medical reasons I could not be present at the well-attended service at the Basilica of St Helen, Birkirkara, but I offered my sacrifice for her soul.

When the local specialist advised her family to go for a major operation at San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, I thought she would get the professional care of the very best. Her husband could testify that the operation was a success, but God is above the medical world, and due to a heart failure Joyce was called to the home of the Father.

She spent her life fully dedicated to her family, even in moments of suffering when her husband had to spend time broadcasting from Sicily, a worthy cause. She shared every moment, together with her three young sons, for the cause of liberty and freedom of expression with her husband. This she did with courage, humility and never a negative word.

All this was coming from her strong faith as she loved God and Our Lady with all her being, always ready like Mary to shower her love on Richard, Mariano, Massimo and Marco.

Like Mary she treasured in her heart the sacrifices and joys of her family, as an example to many families.
