Luqa St Andrew’s FC will be organising an U7-U8-U9 football festival to help raise funds for the Alive 2017 initiative. The funds from Alive 2017 will go towards research for children with cancer.

The festival will see the participation of children born in 2008 and 2009 from Melita FC, Naxxar Lions FC, Swieqi FC and Żebbuġ Rangers FC nurseries.

The players within the Luqa St Andrew’s FC, from the senior team down to all categories, will be donating to this cause. The donation will be presented to cyclists Daniel Portelli and Joseph Grima, two of 60 cyclists taking part in Alive 2017.

This year’s route will see the cyclists covering 1,000 kilometres in seven days between July 7 and 14, from Copenhagen, Denmark through Berlin, Germany and ending in Warsaw, Poland.

The festival will be held today between 8am and 12.30pm at the Luqa St Andrew’s FC Ground at St Vincent de Paule Residence. Donations from the public will be accepted during the tournament, while a bar serving snacks and drinks and a car wash service will also be set up. Proceeds from this activity will go to the same charity.
