I am convinced that many decent Nationalist Party supporters are disgusted at the vile campaign that blogger Daphne Caruana Galizia is conducting to force PN deputy leader Mario de Marco to resign.

What is amazing is that the PN is not saying anything about this campaign. PN leader Simon Busuttil is quite ready to defend de Marco when he is criticised by the Labour Party, whom he accuses of “mudslinging”. But he never says a word to Caruana Galizia about her ongoing campaign against de Marco.

Alas, de Marco, due to his great loyalty to his party, has chosen to apologise for doing nothing wrong, thus hoping to appease those who are baying for his political blood.

The day after this strange apology, Simon Busuttil opened his mouth for the first time and said: “We will not allow the Labour Party to drive a wedge between me and Mario de Marco”.

Ironically, the sole person who created the campaign for de Marco to resign is none other than Daphne Caruana Galizia, the person Dr Busuttil is scared to mention by name.
