Nationalist Party leader Simon Busuttil has shown his mettle by objecting to the obscene Institute of Tourism Studies deal between the government and the db Group and referring the matter to the Auditor General.
It would have been infinitely easier for Busuttil to have done nothing about the deal; however, he showed he was not prepared to be blackmailed into keeping quiet.
Busuttil adopted this position even though there was a commercial relationship between the db Group and the PN.
Contrast this with how Joseph Muscat handled the Panama Papers saga.
Both cases had the potential to embarrass the involved parties, but whereas Muscat acted as though nothing had happened, Busuttil confronted the issue with courage, even though he must have known this would lead to some criticism.
Finally, all this shows how right Busuttil is to have promised to investigate all the deals that Konrad Mizzi and Keith Schembri were involved in should the PN win the next election.
Surely this is an additional reason to kick out the Muscat government when we go to the polls.
