Two groups of fifth form students from St Theresa College, who successfully completed two Mcast Skills Kits programmes earlier this year, are this month starting another two Skills Kits before they finish their secondary education.

Skills Kits is a programme run by the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (Mcast)’s Foundation College. It consists of a number of short Level 1 courses of 20 hours each that give students a taste of a vocational skill and employability skill, as well as enables them to experience vocational education at the college.

The first group of seven fifth formers from Mrieħel girls’ secondary school completed the hairdressing and beauty skills kit. They were introduced to basic hair and facial care, including procedures of shampooing and conditioning hair, face cleansing and make-up application.

The second group of seven fifth formers from Santa Venera boys’ secondary school successfully completed the ‘Taking Part in Sport Skills Kit’. During the course they learnt about the wide variety of sports activities available locally and tried some of them out at Mcast.
