Basketball, NBA: The San Antonio Spurs moved to within two games of the Golden State Warriors at the top of the Western Conference after a 97-90 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. LaMarcis Aldridge led the way with 23 points and was well supported by Kawhi Leonard, who poured in 19 of his own. Mike Conley had 22 points and six assists for Memphis. The Toronto Raptors held their nerve after falling behind by 15 points to rally for a 101-84 win over the Miami Heat. DeMar DeRozan top-scored with 40 points – the first time he’d surpassed 40 points in back-to-back games.

Tennis: Nick Kyrgios says he is expecting “big things on grass this year” after joining the field for the Aegon Championships at Queen’s Club. “I’m real excited and pumped to be coming back to Queen’s. It’s a great tournament, with Wimbledon soon after, and I love playing on grass. It’s my favourite surface, it suits my game a lot and I’m expecting big things on grass this year,” he said. Kyrgios joins a star-studded line-up, with defending champion Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal, Stan Wawrinka, Milos Raonic and Grigor Dimitrov having all committed to the tournament, which begins on June 19.

Cricket: India captain Virat Kohli is doubtful for the fourth and final test against Australia after suffering a shoulder injury in the penultimate match in Ranchi. The 28-year-old Kohli damaged his right shoulder when diving to save a boundary on the first day of the penultimate test in Ranchi and was off the field during most of Australia’s first innings in the drawn game. “(We will) take a call later tonight or tomorrow,” Kohli told reporters yesterday. The series is tied at 1-1 with the winner-takes-all fourth test starting today.

Darts: Michael van Gerwen set a new record of 44 televised matches unbeaten in Manchester on Thursday night – then promptly saw his proud new record brought to an end. Van Gerwen shot back to the top of the Premier League Darts table and eclipsed the previous record held jointly with Phil Taylor when he beat James Wade 7-4 in his first match of the night. But the world champion then fell to a 7-5 defeat in a high-quality clash with fellow Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld as he played his game in hand on the rest of the field.
