A theatrical experience titled Imhabba bil-ponta tas-sejf which explores the historical aspect in the broadcasting history of radio plays is being presented this weekend at St James Cavalier.

A long time ago, plays on the Rediffusion had to be created in real time: from the smallest creak of a door to the largest storm. Sometimes, this led to an actual storm brewing up between the actors in the studio.

The script by Trevor Zahra is based on the book Remembering Rediffusion in Malta by Toni Sant. The creative team includes actors Joe Quattromani, Joe Cortis, Ninette Micallef, Tony Cassar Darien, Leli Barbara, Narcy Calamatta and Michael Sciortino. Lino Farrugia is the director.

This project is a collaboration between Spazju Kreattiv and the Malta Drama Centre.

■ Imħabba bil-ponta tas-sejf is being presented at St James Cavalier in Valletta today at 6pm. It is suitable for those aged 11+. For more information and tickets, visit www.kreattivita.org or call 2122 3200.
