A concert featuring a harpsichord, a trumpet and a typewriter will take centre stage at a Malta Philharmonic Orchestra concert today.

The instruments – all considered radical when they were introduced – will feature in a programme that includes Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto, along with his Clock Symphony, Philip Glass’s Harpsichord Concerto and Leroy Anderson’s The Typewriter.

The concert will be conducted by Michael Laus, who will also play the harpsichord. Stephen Murphy will play the trumpet and Daniel Cauchi will amuse the audience with the typewriter.

■ Instruments of Innovation is happening tonight at the Robert Samut Hall in Floriana at 7.30pm. For tickets, visit www.showshappening.com.
