The headline ‘Melita in talks to buy Vodafone’ (March 21) is not one many of us wanted to see.

I am sure we are not the only ones who have moved our internet access from Melita to Vodafone for various reasons and the last thing we want is to be back under Melita.

We have gone from a company that rides roughshod over its customers, as shown by the many letters I have seen on this newspaper from thoroughly disgruntled users of its services.

It puts up fees without prior notice, even if you have a two-year contract and are unable to change terms yourself and, when you complain, the attitude is take it or leave it.

We complained for about a year about the wi-fi service on our HD box and were constantly told it was because of interference in the area and that they would reset it. It was only after we gave them notice that we were terminating their services that they actually admitted the box was faulty and changed it.

We moved to Vodafone anyway and have had no complaints with them so far. Problems with mobiles are dealt with politely.

So, we are sincerely hoping this takeover does not take place because if they get a virtual monopoly they will continue to do whatever they want and the customer will suffer.
