The fourth round of races from the Assoċjazzjoni Sport Muturi u Karozzi Enduro Championship was held in Gozo last Sunday.

Sixteen riders competed on the three-kilometre long track at Ħondoq Ir-Rummien in the limits of Qala with the main sponsors on the day being Pasta Poiatti and Dunlop Tyres.

Racing started with an eventful session for pole position with Bernard Sammut, on a KTM, dominating the early proceedings and followed by Joseph Scicluna (KTM) and James Zahra, on Sherco.

Sammut lost a couple of places on the timesheet as Matthew Gauci (Yamaha DT) also entered the scene with a flying lap of 3:54.11 that won him the day’s honours in Class B. Sammut was second (4:24.40) and Scicluna (4:37.17) third.

Class A was reserved for those riders on a motorcycle with small-calibre engines. Kris Falzon recorded the best time, 6:45.14, to beat the challenge of runner-up Gabriel Muscat (7:46.31) on a Honda CRF while James Grima (KTM) classified third with a time of 11:26.70.

Gozitan rider Renato Mizzi showed his true worth in Class C as he rode his Beta 250cc to victory in 6:17.82.

On Sunday, activities return to the Sports Complex at Ta’ Qali with races from the Autocross Championship series, sponsored by Pasta Poiatti.
