It may be interesting to the public that some years ago there was an application for a development on a particular part of the ITS site facing St George’s Bay.

The recommendation of the case officer was for refusal for the simple reason that in the area there was a cave considered a habitat of a colony of bats. There is a similar one in Birżebbuġa.

What has changed within the PA? The conscience of case officers or are the policies more friendly and personalised now? Lack of environmental awareness? Permits for the sake of  our flourishing economy?

Or is perhaps the mighty euro/dollar superseding any other factor of national importance at all costs?

From a report published  in this newspaper (March 8), “the government has slashed the ground rent from €1.6 million to €1,000 a year until the completion of the project”.

Compare this reduced amount of rent with that of a one bedroom flat at a €500 monthly tag.

Unbelievable.
