Wrestling: British freestyle wrestler Chinu Sandhu, who won bronze at the Commonwealth Games in 2014, has been handed a four-year ban for a doping violation. Sandhu tested positive for an anabolic steroid in an out-of-competition test administered on Sept. 20 and an independent National Anti-Doping Panel (NDAP) upheld the charge against him. The 29-year-old had contested the charge on the grounds that he had not acted intentionally and that the positive test resulted from taking a contaminated supplement.

Motor Racing: Indonesian driver Sean Gelael will take part in three Formula One tests with Red Bull-owned Toro Rosso this year. Gelael, 20, will be at the first in-season test in Bahrain in April, in Hungary just before the August break and in Abu Dhabi after the championship ends in November. Toro Rosso published the details on their Twitter feed along with a photograph of the driver having a seat fitting at the Faenza factory.

Boxing: Britain’s Kell Brook will defend his IBF welterweight world title against mandatory American challenger Errol Spence Jr. at Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane ground on May 27. “It’s long been a dream of mine to fight outdoors at Bramall Lane and I’m pleased to do that in the biggest fight in the welterweight division,” he said. Brook has returned to the welterweight division after he was bludgeoned by Kazakhstan’s Gennady Golovkin last September.

Rugby Union: France’s Rugby League (LNR) accused the federation (FFR) of “stunning” interference yesterday for cancelling the rearranged fixtures of Stade Francais and Racing 92 following the collapse of the Paris clubs’ planned merger. The LNR postponed last weekend’s Top 14 games between Castres and Stade and Montpellier and Racing after Stade’s players went on strike in protest at the proposed union of the two Parisian powerhouses. The LNR yesterday rescheduled the games for April, but the FFR intervened, cancelling the decision, without giving any specific reason.
