Broadcasting Authority employees have been ordered to step up industrial action against their employer in protest against BA chair Tanya Borg Cardona.

In an email sent at 8.30am today, Union Ħaddiema Magħqudin director Jesmond Bonello informed BA employees that they are to stop packing documents and other items as part of the BA's transfer to its new Valletta premises, adding that workers' salaries should not be cut.

BA employees have been cranking up the pressure against Ms Borg Cardona, saying she has "abused her position and is making the life of employees miserable."

Having first sent a petition to the Prime Minister, employees began strike action some days ago and followed that up with a protest outside Parliament yesterday evening.

Ms Borg Cardona was appointed BA chair in early 2016 by the government. Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has so far resisted pressure to replace her, saying the BA is an autonomous body answerable to its board of directors.
