Jones: Manchester United defender Phil Jones is out of England’s squad for their upcoming international fixtures against Germany and Lithuania after sustaining an injury in training, the English Football Association said yesterday. Jones, who has 20 caps for England, has been sent back to his club for treatment and will miss tonight’s friendly international against Germany in Dortmund and England’s World Cup qualifier against Lithuania at Wembley on Sunday.

Murphy: Striker Daryl Murphy is out of the Republic of Ireland’s World Cup qualifier against Wales after Martin O’Neill’s problems took a further turn for the worse. The Newcastle frontman underwent a scan on a calf problem on Monday and has now been ruled out of Friday night’s Group D clash at the Aviva Stadium.

Huddlestone: Hull have appealed against midfielder Tom Huddlestone’s dismissal in Saturday’s Premier League defeat at Everton. Huddlestone was shown a straight red card by referee Paul Tierney following his challenge on Idrissa Gueye midway through the second half.

Schneiderlin: Everton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin’s hopes of appearing in his first Merseyside derby have been boosted by the news his calf injury is only minor. However, the Frenchman has only 11 days before the encounter against Liverpool at Anfield and will have to prove his fitness in training before he can be considered. Schneiderlin injured his left calf early on in Saturday’s victory over Hull.

Suso: Atletico Madrid are looking to sign Milan winger Suso this summer. Spanish newspaper AS said that La Liga club are trying to lay the groundwork for an agreement with the player so they can beat a number of clubs who are also keen on his signature. Suso has scored six goals and provided nine assists in the Serie A this season.
