DUCA. On March 18, at Mater Dei Hospital, ALFRED, of Qormi, aged 82, passed peacefully away, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Maria, his son Br Karmenu M. C. (Mother Teresa), his daughter Maria Lourdes, her husband Joseph Bugelli, his grandchildren Luca and Martina, relatives and friends. FARRUGIA. On March 15, JOSEPH of Canada, formerly of Marsa, aged 81, passed peacefully away, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. Dearly loved by his wife Joyce, his daughter Angela, his sons David and his wife Marlene and Stephen and his wife Lesley, his grandchildren, his brothers Charlie, John, Frank, Manuel and their families, all of Canada, his sisters Mary and Violet, his brothers Dominic and Alfred and their families, all residing in Malta, numerous relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 22, at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Paris, Canada. A Mass for the repose of his soul will be said on Wednesday, March 22, at 6.30pm at Holy Trinity parish church, Marsa. Lord, grant him eternal rest.
MIZZI. On March 17, at Mater Dei Hospital, SAMUEL, aged 23, passed peacefully away, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his sad loss his mother Cathrine, his father Ramon, his sister Petra, his grandmother Mary Mizzi and his grandfather Konsiglio Bonnici, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Tuesday, March 21, at 7.30am for St Joseph’s parish church, Msida, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8am, followed by interment in the family vault at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. May the Lord grant him eternal rest and perpetual light shine upon him, Amen.
MUSCAT. JOSEPHINE (Joyce), 74, from Attard, went to meet the Risen Lord on March 16 at Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan, following a major surgery concerning a radical cystectomy. She succumbed to complications caused by shock heart failure and shock hemorrhage. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Richard (ex-MP), her sons Massimo, Mariano and his wife Nadia, Marco and his wife Aida, her mother Julia, her sisters and brothers Alfred, Charles, Julie, Teddy, Mariella and their respective families, brothers and sisters in-law, nephews and nieces, relatives and friends. The coffin carrying her body will be returned to Malta from Milan early next week. The funeral details will be announced later.
SPITERI. On March 17, MARY, from Gżira, aged 88, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of the Holy Catholic Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Charlie, her children Carmen and her husband Manuel, Miriam and her husband Noel, Rita and her husband Anthony, Noel and his wife Susan, Joseph and his wife Carmen, Veronica and her husband Joe, Stefania and her husband Paul, Marta and her husband Jeffrey, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her brothers and sisters, in-laws, their respective families, other relatives and friends. Antique furniture and decorative items sale
An antique furniture and household decorative items sale is being held at St Helen’s parish centre, Birkirkara (behind the basilica) from Tuesday to next Sunday. Opening hours will be daily between 9am and noon and from 5 to 7.30pm. The sale on Sunday will only be open in the morning.
Bazaar
A bazaar is being organised in aid of the Benedictine nuns of Vittoriosa from March 31 to April 2. A variety of items, including furniture, will be on sale. Opening hours will be from 9am to noon and from 4 to 7pm.
World Theatre Day tours of the Manoel
On the occasion of World Theatre Day on March 27, the Manoel Theatre, Teatru Malta and Arts Council Malta are holding free tours of Malta’s national theatre.
The tours last for one hour and are being conducted in Maltese and English. They also include a backstage tour, which is usually closed off to the public.
Places on each tour are limited to 30, so booking is essential.
