Theatre producers Joseph Galea and Carlos Farrugia, the names behind Kristu fi Strada Stretta and Passjoni tad-Duluri, this year present L-Iffissat t’Alla, a theatrical production that focuses on the internal conflicts of the protagonist.
L-Iffissat t’Alla introduces us to a main character who is obsessed with religious effigies, rituals and theological beliefs, just as his mother had taught him. His life revolves around the search for the perfect crucifix, even though he doesn’t even know what it should look like. Such activities console and comfort him, and also make him keep to himself, in his own madness, without letting anyone invade his space. However, things change when he meets a new musician friend, who turns his life upside down.
How did his new friend manage to enter his life? How will he combat his struggle between the conservative and liberal, the traditional and spiritual, between life and death, between body and spirit, with his own soul pursuing him? Will his mother’s teachings stay with him? What will happen to his search for the perfect crucifix?
L-Iffissat t’Alla takes place on April 7, 8, 9, 12, 13 and 14 at Spazju Kreattiv, St James Cavalier, Valletta. The play is certified 12+. Tickets are available online.
